October 2017

Busyness continued into this month. Random tidbit is that there was a lot of rain! The sidewalks were flooded on and off so we were traveling back and forth between the classroom, kitchen and dorms with our shoes off! Some of us joked that we were really getting prepared for a possible overseas experience like this one as we waded through the water. On another note, we had a few papers due about the history of the church and I enjoyed writing a character essay on King Josiah for Synthesis. One of the weekends Hannah F and I stayed off property and stayed at Thomas and Julie Clydes house. They are staff and they did the first part of their internship in Cambodia just after I left. It was really nice to spend time with them, talk, hang out and be off of the base. We made a Khmer dessert and some coffee with (big tapioca pearls for drinks) boba. The weekend before that we were over at their house with some of the interns and staff. Julie was really craving Boklahong (Papya Salad), so we made some for everyone! It's always enjoyable for me to make Khmer food. I know it doesn't taste as good as it would there but it is like a glimpse of it. I was thinking of everyone at the base in Cambodia especially because they had their boot camp and were finishing out on their evangelism on teams around this time.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life."

                                                                            Psalm 139:23-24 NLT

Another big blessing in the month of October was Tom and Sandra and their son (friends and encourages from home) coming to visit me! They could only come for a few hours from their sons house, but it was so nice to see them and spend time with them. They were very kind and took me out for dinner at an Italian place here. The food, company and chat was really good! I am thankful for how both of them continue to help me and make an impact on my growth in the Lord. At the end of this month the church I go to here had a picnic and Hannah F, Cierra and I went to hang out and have some fellowship time. It ended up being a lot of fun! We played games like frisbee, football, and egg toss game and ate really good food. Sitting with some of the church members and really talking to them was a blessing too because we normally don't have terribly long to hold a conversation at church with one another. We also got to see a doggie there! At the end of the month we had a fall get together and dressed up some, this was another fun thing we did as students and interns. The evening consisted of hot dogs and s'mores, volleyball and worshiping the Lord!

This term has been a pretty difficult one in all honesty. Someone recently told me that BMW is like a pressure cooker and when I think about it I really agree. You spend two years here and it is a rapid process of the Lord squeezing out all the nasty stuff in your heart. Things that you think were dealt with arise back to the surface and obstacles or difficulties present themselves. The Lord wants to see how we will handle these situations when circumstances are tough. This is something that came to my attention recently and I know that Jesus is working on stretching me and growing me into who He wants me to be. Please pray for endurance in the midst of difficulties and for me to be faithful in seeking the Lord when I don't know what to do and the going gets tough! God is faithful and He is working in my family's lives my friends lives and mine as well. Thank you Lord that you always provide in any way I need, even when I struggle to be faithful in seeking you wholeheartedly.

Thank you so much to all of you who are supporting me with you prayers and lifting me up in that way. I appreciate it so much as well as your thoughts, encouragement and financial support. The Lord really does use you to provide for me!

Please pray for:

-My grandmother and the rest of my family. My grandma recently got a hysterectomy and the doctor found tumors that she suspects are cancerous. Please pray for encouragement and faith as we trust in the Lord for this.

-My friends in Cambodia that are working to serve the Lord there. Please also lift up the country as a whole as they will be having elections in 2018 for the leader of the country. Pray for peace and the lord to move in the hearts of the people as well as protecting them.

-Please pray for me as I am growing here. Soon I will be making decisions for my 1-year internship. Please pray for wisdom and clear guidance from the Lord as well as an open heart and mind to see and obey God's calling with a joyful heart!

How can I be praying for you? Please let me know about what is happening in your life!
