June 2017!

This month was a busy month! Finals and the school year was finished up early on and the following Monday we began leading our Peanut teams. Peanut Boot Camp is very similar to regular Boot Camp, but it is just with 7-9 year old kids. As you can imagine this week was full of silly things and required a good amount of energy. I have had similar experiences with kids, like being on the Motorcycle Sunday School Circuit in Cambodia and at Boot Camp there, but this one was a little different. The kids are dropped off and normally this is the longest they have been away from home. We are their temporary parents and sleep in the same area in our tents, keep the schedule and make sure everyone is taken care of. Mr. Mike Myers, a man on staff here, was the head leader of our Nehemiah Trusses Peanut team and there were 6 other leaders including myself. Anna, Tanner, Hannah B., Grace, Cierra and I were the student leaders. Our days consisted of fun classes for the kids, meals, crafts, music or story time, training for evangelism, spending time in God's word, building trusses for awnings, and evening rallies! God blessed me with the opportunity to lead worship for the rallies and do the fun actions and jumping around and such. My favorite thing was getting to know the kids throughout the week. At the end of the week we went to a nursing home to share the gospel and that was a special moment with the kids. They did a great job sharing about Jesus and His sacrifice for us on the cross. It was precious hearing them share about our Savior.

"Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Mark 10:15 NIV

When Peanut week was over, we went straight into teen Boot Camp. This summer I lead a team with Samuel and Redika McCracken to Indiana. However, I did not get to spend lots of time with my team at Boot Camp because of various responsibilities. This summer I was "Miss Piggy!" Miss Piggy rides around and checks all the tent sites, inside tents, eating sites, and big top sitting areas to see if there is a mess! Points are taken off for trash or things where they do not belong. At the end of the day during rally I announced the 3 cleanest teams, and the 3 dirtiest teams. The cleanest won free time in the pool and the dirtiest had to clean the Boot Camp bathrooms during free time. It was an exhausting job, but a fun one and a good way to get to know people. Some other responsibilities I had included, cleaning bathrooms, judging an obstacle on the obstacle course, leading a song for preteens post devotional time, counseling, security, leading a class on brainstorming for a team, music for my Indiana team, and I practiced and played my guitar and sang for evening rallies. Boot Camp is a tight schedule and is always a challenge/growing experience because you have to cling to Jesus! If you do not, you will not make it very well.

I hope you all know that I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers. Your interceding on my behalf is valuable to me and I know the Lord uses it to give me strength. Please let me know how I can pray for you! I want to know how the Lord is working in your life also. Thank you again, God bless you today!
